TREAD FARM STORY

We started our herd with Castle Rock Clarity in 2019. We wanted to start showing Dairy Goats at our mini-major show, The Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show and Rodeo (RGVLS)in Mercedes, Tx, so we needed goats. We were very fortunate that Cynthia Cook at CD&J Mini-Ranch was looking to sponsor 4H and FFA kids to get started. She allowed us to be one of those blessed families. So there we started our herd with Clarity as our foundation Dairy "Queen". We then added another Dairy Goat that was picked out from a local Dairy Farm, Eden's Lilly Dairy Farm. Her name is Daisy and she was another one of our foundation goats that we showed our first year. She has since moved on to her forever home to produce the large quantity of fabulous goat milk for a homestead family.

We named our herd by combining the first letters of each family member’s name. We wanted a name that represented our family, because we know that this will be a family endeavor. We look forward to the journey our goats have lead us on and can not wait to see how our foundation genetics improve over time. We have taken the time to bring in proven genetics from a select few Nigerian Goat Farms. We believe that taking the time in the beginning to learn and buy smart will pay off in the long run.

We show our goats, participate in DHIR and will do our first linear Appraisal in 2022!
